We had gone to Malacca to have a gathering with friends from different parts of the world. a local friend from Malacca has insisted that the cendol from Jeta Groves is a must try as it is a genuine Nyonya restaurant. The owners are friendly and the cendol is really good. Glad we were brought here and will definitely come back for more the next time we visit Malacca again.

The vegetarian fish is like with a stale taste. The petai tofu's taste is not bad but the tofu is cold from the fridge. They should have steamed the tofu before topping the petai sauce on it. The green vegetables with the abalone mushrooms is quite tasty though. Maybe the next time we order other dishes will be better.

This restaurant serves food faster than any fast food outlet. After we placed our orders and thought of sitting back to wait for our food to arrive, tea was served followed by rice. I was wondering why the rice was brought out so soon as it will be cold before the dishes come. Was I surprised to find that the dishes actually were served right one after the other. This has turned out to be a tantalizing trip for our palate as food is really delicious, a pleasant change of taste from the KL/PJ fare.

J Cafe on Exhibition Street in Melbourne CBD offers the one and only sushi burger in town (or perhaps the world). Definitely a good choice as it is a healthy and tasty 'grab and go' snack. Though I think it's a tad bit too pricey for something that's only slightly larger than a regular sushi roll which costs $2-$2.50 in Melbourne.

Was at Jaya Jusco, Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur to do some grocery shopping. As I was entering the supermarket, I notice this new stall right at the entrance selling a new drink from Korea. As I was rather thirsty, I thought I could do with the Korean Organic Barley Tea which was RM 2.50 for a cup. It was really refreshing and actually quenched my thirst completely. Other than drinks, the stall also sells some triangular rice pieces. They have two vegetarian choices, namely, Vegetarian Meat Slices and Vegetarian Meat Slices-Spicy and they are priced at RM 4.90 a piece
This is a really simple bread recipe where even the busy or those who are new to baking can make. Another plus point is that normally when you eat bread you will have to get butter and jam or another accompaniments but with this banana bread you just have it as it is together with your favorite drink.
Eggless Banana Bread Ingredients 2 Cups Self raising Flour/ Wholemeal Flour 1/2 Cup Butter 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 125ml Milk 4 Mashed Bananas
Method 1. Melt butter & mix with flour 2. Add sugar, milk & mashed bananas into mix 3. Bake for 190*C for 15-20minutes.
On one of those hot days when you may just want to have something light but yet a fulfilling meal, so the idea of making a bowl of fish head meehoon came to my mind. It is fast and simple, as I have said, it is a hot day, and you definitely would not want to spend too much time in the kitchen also.
Ingredients: A handful of meehoon (soaked and drained) 1 pc tofu (divided into 4) 1 tomato (divided into 4) 1 big pc salted vegetable 2 pc dried chilli A few pcs vegetarian fish 1 cup milk A few slices ginger
Method: 1. Boil a bowl of water together with the tofu, tomatoes, salted vegetable, dried chillis and ginger slices for 5 minutes. 2. Add in meehoon and place vegetarian fish slices on top and bring to boil again or until meehoon is soft 3. Off the flame and add in the milk. 4. Serve immediately.
We arrived at almost 7.30pm and ordered our food. As it is just to have a light snack so we ordered some individual dishes from the ala carte menu. Do not recommend the green curry as I guess that it may have been in the pot too long (maybe from opening time) as it tasted a bit not too fresh. However, the captain was very generous by offering us 4 cups of enzyme drinks on the house.
Feel like having nasi lemak? Boil a pot of rice with some santan and pandan leaves. For the vegetarian curry chicken all you need is a packet of vegetarian roasted chicken and a packet of Liza's curry vegetables. As all necessary ingredients are already in the curry paste you just need to place the curry paste onto a pan and add in the vegetarian chicken pieces. Simmer on low flame for about 5 minutes and it will be ready to be served with some cucumber slices. Simple and fast, right?
Some of us just love ice-cream but cannot indulge because of the sugar and cholesterol that goes along with most ice-creams. I was recommended by a friend with this recipe and it is so simple and hassle free to make and the taste is simply delicious. All you need is just 3 medium sized bananas and a little soya milk. Blend them in a mini blender and transfer to a tupperware mold to freeze for 2 - 3 hours. Whalla........... guilt free banana ice-cream. Will try blending with other fruits and will be posting them another time

Ingredients: 250g frozen berry mix 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup all purpose / wholewheat flour 2/3 cup quick cooking oats 1/3 cup melted butter 1/2 cup cranberry juice (option: dilute it if your cranberry juice is too sweet) option: 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Method: 1. Melt butter 2. Mix brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon in a mixing bowl. 3. Add butter and mix well. 4. Put the crumble mixutre into a baking dish and add berries and cranberry juice. 5. Microwave, uncovered, on high until the juice starts to bubble. 6. Allow to stand for 10 minutes before serving.
The most appropriate dish for pot luck as it will go along with any other dishes brought along by other guests. Fried meehoon is simple and easy to prepare and you can keep it warm by storing in a thermal pot.
Ingredients: 1 packet Golden Dragon Meehoon (soaked in water until soft) 1 kg choy sum (washed and drained) 2 pc tofu (cut into strips and fried) 20 shitake mushrooms (soaked 3 tbsp dark soy sauce } 3 tbsp light soy sauce } mix well 3 tbsp vegetarian oyster sauce } 2 bowls water } 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp ginger strips Method: 1. Fry ginger in olive oil 2. Add in mushrooms and fry for 1 minute 3. Add in choy sum and continue to fry for another 2 minutes 4. Add in mixture of seasonings 5. Add in meehoon and toss until well mixed 6. Cover for 1 minute or until meehoon is well cooked
Not many choices of vegetarian food in Desa Sri Hartamas so ended up again in MG'S cafe when I was around this area during lunch time. The price is rather pricey for this bowl of Black Pepper Udon which came with only a few thin pieces of capsicum and two really tiny pieces of small ham which is more like two half toothpick thin pieces. The taste however israther delicious. If only they can add a little bit more capsicum.

Best ice kacang I have tasted. The presentation is so attractive with three different colors of syrup matching with different colors of other accompaniments like red bean, cincau, sweet corn, ground nuts and attap seeds. Also to top off all these is a big scoop of ice-cream. Delicious!!! Must try.

This is a good afternoon tea-time place to rest your feet after hours of shopping. Place is always full but if you are lucky you can get your seats without waiting too long. The bubur chacha is by far the best I have tasted so far. You can find 3 types of sweet potatoes inside, the yellow, orange and the purple type. Also you can find black eye beans and sago made into jelly like balls. For RM 3.80 it is very reasonable
