So let us all do our part in whatever big or small way to save the environment. For lunch time they have a special set lunch which comprises of rice with 3 dishes, soup of the day and a plate of seasonal fruit. White rice will be RM 5.50 and brown rice will be RM 6.00.
There are many Chee Cheong Fun stalls around town and what makes the chee cheong fun delicious depends very much on the sauce that accompany it. There is this stall in a coffee shop in Section 17 Petlaing Jaya. It is situated along Jalan 17/29 same block with Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant. The chee cheong fun here has been selling for 50sen a piece and the price has not increased for many years already. The sauce that goes with the chee cheong fun is perfect so I can understand why one of my friend is such a regular customer that he has to visit this stall everyday to start off his day.
The trusted and reliable Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant in Section 17, Petaling Jayastill the best bet for a vegetarian meal only that I noticed that their prices have increased but consolation is their quality of food has maintained. With the good business that they are having, I feel the boss should consider to do some uplifting job and add/replace some air-conds as the place can be really warm, humid and sticky on hot days
When visiting New Giant Bowl in SS2, do make it a point to order the "Sotong Kangkong" dish as I have recently learned that the some of the "sotong" are actually what is now very popular in the market, known as the 'sea bird nest'. This is actually a type of seaweed that is rich in enzyme minerals, minerals, calcium, iron, multitude fibers and jelly form proteins. It is especially good for skin care, vegetarian diet and daily fiber diet intake. It grows naturally and contains no artificial fertiliser and chemical. Their nasi lemak with brown rice is highly recommended as the taste is quite authentic and price is reasonable with the generous portion they offer.
Nasi Lemak with brown rice - RM5.50
Meat Rice - RM 5.90
Sotong Kangkong - RM 7.90

Lucky I had made reservation for a table two days before our get together with some friends as the place was all packed without a vacant table. We quickly placed our orders and then sat back to do our catching up as all of us had not met for sometime. We were all quite hungry and was glad that the food arrived very fast. I am happy that my friends, who are all not vegetarians, had trusted me with my choices of dishes and found the food to be interesting and delicious. Afterall this is my fifth visit and I am definitely coming back for more and hope to recommend it to more people.

We arrived very early at the restaurant anticipating a huge crowd as the last time when we were here, it was fully occupied and we could not find any vacant table. As many people will be on a vegetarian diet for the first nine days in the ninth lunar month and many vegetarian restaurants will be crowded so we thought we better arrive early (before 12 noon) as the last time when we were here, the restaurant was so full that we could not find a vacant table to occupy. We were surprised that the restaurant was empty today so we quickly placed our orders and the food arrived very fast which is good as we were all very hungry. Monkey head mushrooms in red soup is still our favorite and I strongly recommend this dish.

I am so sad to see the notice on the entrance door of the restaurant informing that they will be shifting to a new place from 11th November, 2009. This present place is so convenient to visit and with easy and free parking, it is such a pity that they will have to give it up. I really like the cooking style of their chef as it totally suits my taste, which is less oil and less salt. Will definitely go and visit them more often when they move to their new place.

This is really a must try ice kacang especially when you have friends coming in from overseas who wants to try out Malaysian desserts. They are very generous with their ingredients like cincau, red beans, sweet corn, cendol, attap seeds and to top it all, a big scoop of ice cream on top of it.
Went shopping with friends from overseas and wanted to rest our poor feet after a few hours of walking around at Pavilion. Our friends had heard so much about a Japanese style bakery owned by Tun Dr. Mahathir and wanted to try it out. They must be having something like more than 50 types of breads so there is really no problem for vegetarians like us to make our individual choices. We are happy that our friends found that the bread are of good quality and the coffee is strong and satisfying.

Heard that Chikuyo had opened a branch in The Curve and had wanted to try it out. Am quite disappointed with the order I made today which is the tomyam meehoon. The taste is quite ok, but was really not happy with the quantity that was served. There was just like three spoonfuls of the meehoon that I could get and I think it did not even fill a quarter of my stomach. Mayebe will try out rice dishes next time.

I never fail to order the green curry whenever I visit this cafe, but this time we also wanted to try the red curry. The red curry noodles come with 4 pieces of yong tau fu - one pc yong tau fu, one pc yong tau fu pok, one pc yong chilli and another pc yong brinjal. All the 4 pieces are done nicely and the taste is delicious. Did not regret ordering this and if fact will make it a point to order this every time we come visit again.
Quite happy with the food in this restaurant, so making a visit again to enjoy other selections. The pig's trotter is very good as the taste of vinegar is just right and correct for me. It is neither too sweet nor too sour. They have old ginger, vegetarian mutton made from mushroom stalks and black beans in the soup The portion is really big for the price of RM 9.90. Curry laksa was alright but the assam laksa is not up to my standard. The vegetarian meat rice is nothing fantastic as the meat which was meant to be 'siew yook' does not taste like it at all and the sauce accompanying it also is not appealing at all.

Food quality and taste has improved tremendously since the last time i patronised this restaurant. The fish head meehoon which I ordered was so much that I had problem finishing it alone. The sotong kangkong is highly recommended as other than using the vegetarian sotong, a kind of sea weed is also added. The blended paste added for this dish is just correct and so tasty. Nasi lemak was very fulfilling, the curry mutton and sambal were perfect and so fitting. The mini market sells a variety of groceries and food and organic vegetables and fruits are also available.
