Relatively hidden in Melbourne's Chinatown is a little restaurant serving some tasty chinese dumplings. Situated away from the busy parts of Chinatown (nearer towards Swanston Street), Shanghai Village is located after Russell Street. Recommended by Vivian, we visited this restaurant in search of some good vegetarian dumplings and we were relatively happy with what we got. Service was okay and the staff did manage to converse in english. Some parts of the menu and "chef's recommendation" were written in both chinese and english. We ordered:
Pan Fried Vegetarian Dumplings
(a little oily but bearable if you like pan-fried stuff)
Steamed vegetarian dumplings (Jing Shou Shui Gao)
Steamed Vegetarian Bun (Choy Pau)
