French is internationally known as 'ze language of Love. Couples who visit Paris would not miss the opportunity to snap pics with the Eiffel Tower, as many believe it symbolizes eternal Love. Even the popular Hong Kong TVB drama No Regrets did not forget to photoshop Miss Nine and Lau Sing with it!
To celebrate Valentine's Day, we prepared two dishes using French beans.
Firstly, purple rice topped with stir-fried with Tumeric and French beans.
The second dish - French Beans stir fried with capers drizzled with fresh lemon juice. Capers works magic with the French Beans. No extra seasoning is required as the preserved capers are naturally sour and salty and compliments the French Beans very well.
It is not advisable to go to sleep on a full stomach as it is unhealthy and bad for a diet. So is there anything that can be eaten about an hour before sleep that won't jeopardize a diet and won't be unhealthy? Here is a really simple and easy to prepare dish which is nutritious and fragrant and that way you are not hungry going to bed and you won't feel bloated! Basil leaves can be grown easily in a flower pot.
Ingredients: A few sprigs of basil leaves A pc of tofu (cut into squares) Method: 1. Fry tofu in a non stick pan without oil 2. Serve with washed basil leaves and a little Lingam chilli sauce
Eating out is pricey and during this economic crisis, one should probably consider tightening their purse strings, but not your belts. "Why?" you ask. Because there's so much good veggie food in the world and now's the time to buy fresh and cook it yourself! Home-cooked food is the healthiest and most economical option available and not to mention the freedom you get to "play" around with your food.
My lunchbox today consists of: 1. steamed rice rolls 2. tofu topped with preserved olives 3. stir fried pot mushroom with onions and french beans 4. fresh chinese shallots.
Ingredients: 4 medium sized Mushroom 2 celery sticks half "fried tofu block" 2 medium sized onions half a box of konnyaku (not the dessert kind, but the ones used for stir-frying - the white squid like thingy in the pic above)
Method: 1. saute the chopped onions in a non-stick pan with a few drops of olive oil. 2. add the mushrooms and stir fry for about 1 minute 3. add the sliced tofu and konnyaku and continue stir fry for about 30 seconds. 4. add the chopped celery and stir fry for another 30 seconds. 5. It should be tasty enough as the mushrooms act as a natural flavor to this dish. If you prefer it to be a little saltier, you can add a pinch of salt or a little soy sauce. If you like spicy food, you can even opt to add a tablespoon of chili paste (I personally recommend vegetarian tomyam paste). If you have more of a sweet tooth, you can dilute a little Hoi Sin sauce and add to it. Also, there's the classic balsamic vinegar which is a very healthy choice. 6. Top with some parsley and enjoy!
Two avid vegetarians are here to share some insights to the world of vegetarianism.
Hopefully, through this site, the lives of some animals can be spared. Always remember, animals have feelings too, they are our friends not our meal.
