We went back for more over-the-roof spicy food at Ying Thai. This time, we decided to test our palette further by attempting the Thai stir-fried dishes. True enough, our "extra spicy" order sent our eyes watering and our hands were kept busy with everyone putting down their cutlery to reach for the glasses of ice cold sky juice. One of us left Ying Thai with a pair of red eyes and also a Rudolph nose to go with it, due to repeated tissue wipes.

The night is quite chilly and our friends from Malaysia wanted something really spicy to warm up the body, so the best place to take them will be Ying Thai, the restaurant where we find can give us the spiciest food in town. The only worry we have is whether we will be able to get seats as it is a Sunday night as even on normal nights the place will always be crowded. When we arrived, as expected, all the tables are fully occupied. Anyway, we placed a booking for a table and was told that we have to wait 10 minutes. As promised we got our table and our friends got their spicy curry and we got our vegetarian choices. We requested very spicy for our Gang Pa and sure enough, even on this chilly night we all started to perspire and have to gulp down glasses of icy cold water. The meal was very satisfying with Jasmine Steamed Rice($3) to go with it. The only comment my friends gave after the meal was "SYOK, SYOK"

Having a tough time finding authentic thai vegetarian food in thailand (due to all the lard they use for cooking and also adding meat to almost everything except mango sticky rice dessert), I was very thrilled to find a good vegetarian restaurant in Melbourne, favored by both vegetarian and non-vegetarians. Ying Thai caters for people with different "expectations" of spiciness, ranging from very mild to extra spicy.
