Splendid Spread and Tempting Treats at Sushi Tei, Malaysia
There's something addictive about Japanese food that keeps me craving for more. I think it's the simplicity that makes Japanese food taste so good.

Veggie Tempura Bento
Deep fried vegetable tempura served on a box of steaming hot Japanese rice.
Make sure you as for some daikon (Japanese sushi) to be put in the soy sauce for dipping the tempura :)

Kanpyo maki and Oshinko maki
I love it how the sushi at sushi tei is made up of more filling than rice. Yum.
Check out how much pickled gourd and picked daikon (white radish) were used in this dish!
Edamame
I noticed that every "branch" had exactly two edamame attached to it. Is it really the case or is it a japanese tradition to serve only two edamame with each stick? haha

Tamago maki
Egg filled sushi. :)

Kappa maki
I believe this is rather unique as the chef added a generous amount of sesame to this dish. The fragrance of the sesame seeds was a perfect compliment to the crunchy cucumber which is refreshingly satisfying.

There are 3 sushi teis in town.
1) Tropicana City Mall (Petaling Jaya)
2) Pavilion Kuala Lumpur
3) The Gardens Mall, Mid-valley City

Be sure to visit one to try the delicious sushi!

Malaysian Cendol and Italian Tiramisu - All in one place
One of my good Aussie friend came over to Malaysia for a visit and as a local, I felt obliged to bring her to all the good places Malaysia has to offer. However, it was sad that we had a constraint - time. So, I suggested that she make a one-stop at Mid-Valley the well known food/shopping haven. After indulging in the local delicacies at Madam Kwan's, she had a wonderful time exploring and getting lost in the spacious shopping walkways of Mid-Valley and Gardens, or at least I hope she did.

Met up with her in the evening and as she was still full from lunch, I took her on a dessert tour, stopping at Nyonya Colors for the famous Teh Tarik (Pulled Tea). We asked for 'kurang manis' (lesser sugar) and was very happy that it was really 'kurang'! :)

Next up, I introduced her to Malaysian Cendol served by the dessert stall at Garden's food court. This stall has never disappointed me with the large portion.

We capped off the night with a heavenly slice of Tiramisu from Alexis. Alexis had the perfect setting for two girls who were dying to catch up with each other, who needed a place that was quiet enough for us to not shout when speaking to each other, but allowing us to giggle, laugh and squeal. LoL.

Tiramisu
Cotton soft sponge cake topped with crunchy nuts. The strawberry sauce definitely took the cake enjoyment to the next level =)
Having said this, I still prefer non-spongy tiramisu but this attempt by Alexis certainly deserves a thumbs-up

Delicious, Mid Valley Megamall
Hunting for a decent late night snack after work, we ended up at Delicious at MidValley Megamall. Ambience and service was good, as usual, but the food was not really up to scratch this time. The trio of dips were fine, but the bread came a bit overcooked and it was crispy and hard like keropok instead of soft and fluffy. The Viet Salad was supposed to come with Chicken, but when we asked if they could make it vegetarian, they came back and said it was doable, however, all they did was take out the chicken bits and all was left was some sliced cucumbers and some salad topped with some peanut dressing - how expensive for a dish of simple veggies! They could have added some tofu or something else and not take out something without replacing it! However, the crispy mushrooms is something highly recommended. It was tasty and not oily.

Viet Salad - RM 19.90
Trio of Dips - RM 14.90
Crispy fried mushrooms - RM 12.90Name: Delicious

Good Meal At Madm Kwan's
It can be quite inconvenient for vegetarians to have a meal out with non-vegetarians as most of them are usually not comfortable eating vegetarian food and also there is no proper vegetarian restaurants in Mid Valley Megamall. We finally ended up in Madam Kwan's and found out from the captain they can cater to us and alter some of the dishes to suit our special needs. After the orders were placed and the drinks arrived, the waiter came back to inform that theydo add in oyster sauce for the "Loh Han Vege" and enquired if it is ok for us. We explained that if it is not vegetarian oyster sauce then they can just replace it with plain soya sauce. We were quite happy as that shows that the chef knows of our needs and is concerned of what can and cannot be added to our dishes. We were happy with our orders. The vegetarian char kway teow is very tasty and not too oily/salty. The Loh Han Vege's portion was big even though we had requested for a small portion and was delicious too. The bubur cha-cha was rich with coconut milk and was not very sweet as served by most other restaurants.

Vegetarian Char Kway Teow - RM 15.90
Steamed White Rice - RM 1.90Loh Han Vege - RM 15.80
Bubur Cha-Cha - RM 6.90

The crust is as soft as cotton candy at Spaghetti Grill
It is extremely hard to find good pizza in Malaysia nowadays, especially since I have exposed my palette to authentic Italian hand made pizza! However, I am extremely pleased to find something at least up to par with my expectation at spaghetti grill in MidValley.

RM 9.95++
Vegetarian Pizza
The crust is so soft that you can fold it like a burrito!
Generous amount of cheese but could do with a little more topping.

Plus RM 2 for a glass of juice (lunch set comes with free bottomless soft drinks, + RM2 for bottomless juice)
Tastes like bottled juice like Just Juice, but oh well,
it's a great thirst quencher especially during the hectic lunch hour.

Delicious at Mid-Valley Megamall
Yay found a great place for gathering, as you know I have been having a lot of gatherings lately and have not really found a good location with nice ambiance and quiet environment for the endless chit chats. Delicious Mid Valley is definitely a great place for gathering. First of all Mid Valley Megamall is a good choice for both residents of WP and Selangor as it is centrally located, approachable from KL, PJ, Subang, Klang, Cheras, Puchong etc. Furthermore, western food is definitely a safe choice when it comes to having a big gathering (unless you have friends who strongly object to western food). Loving the coffee, big cup, great taste and okay pricing (RM8 per cup).

Watermelon Smoothie
Definitely a very soothing and cooling drink

Cafe Latte - Illy. YUM
Almost perfect latte. You can never go wrong with Illy, my new lavazza substitute! Would definitely recommend it for my tiramisu recipe!

Portobello mushroom burger with side fries

Creamy mushroom soup
No where near my mum's homemade mushroom soup. Anyone wants the "secret" recipe? post your replies here!

Search for good loh por bang is still on
I cannot resist it every time when I see loh por bang and this time I saw some at the bakery in Jaya Jusco Supermarket in Mid Valley Megamall and bought 3 pieces to try. They look so nice and golden but way way beyond comparison with my favorite which I use to buy from Singapore. Anyone who come across really good loh por bang, please do let me know..........
