Went shopping with friends from overseas and wanted to rest our poor feet after a few hours of walking around at Pavilion. Our friends had heard so much about a Japanese style bakery owned by Tun Dr. Mahathir and wanted to try it out. They must be having something like more than 50 types of breads so there is really no problem for vegetarians like us to make our individual choices. We are happy that our friends found that the bread are of good quality and the coffee is strong and satisfying.

Not many choices of vegetarian food in Desa Sri Hartamas so ended up again in MG'S cafe when I was around this area during lunch time. The price is rather pricey for this bowl of Black Pepper Udon which came with only a few thin pieces of capsicum and two really tiny pieces of small ham which is more like two half toothpick thin pieces. The taste however israther delicious. If only they can add a little bit more capsicum.
Black Pepper Udon - RM7.90

I often wake up to a very empty stomach on a cold winter morning and the best way to fill it up is a bowl of piping hot oatmeal topped with chopped walnutes, soy milk and cinnamon. Recently, I added a serving of fat-free homemade scones to complete my breakfast splurge. It is a very good idea to soak the cranberries / raisins in alcohol like tia maria, vodka, rum as they add an extra kick to the scones, which would otherwise be quite plain (though it doesn't matter since you do eat it with other accompaniments)

Ingredients:
1 cup self-raising flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup dried cranberries (soaked in 4tbsp of rum / tia maria)
1 small slice of butter / 1 tbsp olive oil
1. Preheat oven at 200C for around 10 minutes.
2. Mix flour, milk and cranberries until you obtain a dough that does not stick to the hands.
3. Grease baking tray with butter / olive oil
4. Divide the dough into 5cm diameter balls.
5. Bake at 180C for a further 10 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Serve with ginger marmalade or your favourite jam / maple syrup.
Option: you can add 2 tablespoon of tia maria / rum into the dough during mixing for extra flavor

I frequent MG Cafe for the wonderful assam laksa, which arguably is more authentic than the assam laksa found elsewhere, even the non-vegetarian version! Portion is just right for one and pricing is not too pricey, with the assam laksa going at $6.80. For those that are looking a vegetarian bakery without eggs added, this is the place to frequent! =) Despite being a coffee fanatic recently, I would not recommend the moka pot coffee as the taste was nothing tremendously special for the price that was charged, i think it was RM16 per pot (equals to about 5 1/2 espresso shot glasses).
Assam Laksa
highly recommended

a great variety of vegetarian bakery (items with egg added are clearly stated)

Assam Laksa - YUMMY

I personally LOVE their Assam Laksa. I didn't really like the other fast food dishes (ranges from western-pasta to japanese-sushi to local delicacies-nasi lemak. They also have a bakery, but beware, some of the breads/cakes/food contains egg, but they are clearly specified in the menu.
