Terribly sorry for the hiatus due to some training I had to attend, but here's a great place to visit (highly recommend their buffet spread).
Their high tea and dinner is not really a vegetarian friendly spread as there are definitely way more meaty main dishes than vegetarian dishes and there is hardly any 'vegetarian' signage. My friend who was not sure if sea cucumber is vegetarian sought some clarification from the chef only to be told that it is vegetarian since it is a cucumber!!! Sorry, but being a chef, it is your obligation to know the dietary needs of others and if you are not sure, never give any answer and instead ask someone who is more knowledgeable.
Their high tea and dinner buffet is pretty much the same, sushi, the usual salad bar and steamed rice with dhal curry. That is pretty much it, and their dessert selection is pretty limited and not really anything to die for.

Hunting for a decent late night snack after work, we ended up at Delicious at MidValley Megamall. Ambience and service was good, as usual, but the food was not really up to scratch this time. The trio of dips were fine, but the bread came a bit overcooked and it was crispy and hard like keropok instead of soft and fluffy. The Viet Salad was supposed to come with Chicken, but when we asked if they could make it vegetarian, they came back and said it was doable, however, all they did was take out the chicken bits and all was left was some sliced cucumbers and some salad topped with some peanut dressing - how expensive for a dish of simple veggies! They could have added some tofu or something else and not take out something without replacing it! However, the crispy mushrooms is something highly recommended. It was tasty and not oily.
It's official. Mani the parrot and Paul the Octopus has predicted their winners for the World Cup. Personally, I hope Mani's right! Go Oranje! As for the bronze cup, I hope Paul's right, full speed and accuracy ahead Deutschland! In short, I don't care who predicts what, but rather which team has won my heart and support through their form and personalities. Just like Ghana, they may have lost the match against Uruguay, when their winning goal was denied by Suarez's infamous handball, but in everyone's eyes they are the true winners of the match.
Tonight's the big night for Germany. Viel Gluck Deutschland (Lots of good luck Germany!) Hoping to see Miroslav Klose do this again tonight, hopefully twice as that would mean he would be the player with the most goals in world cup history! Good luck Klose!!
As the two matches are going to be held in the wee hours for fans in Asia, so do remember to stay hydrated. Sipping on non-caffeinated tea is a great idea. Try chamomile, jasmine, peppermint tea or unsweetened juices instead of carbonated drinks. Alcohol-phillics should try this cocktail that I whipped using the bare ingredients in my fridge. Shake 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice + lots of ice + 3 tablespoonful of Rum and ''voila'', there you have it, a refreshing drink with a side 'kick' to it.
Midnight snacking is not my habit as I do not sleep well with a full tummy. However, here are some great healthy ideas for you 'junkies' out there!
Frozen blueberries + raspberries in a alcopop vodka bath (or sparkling grape juice for a non-alcoholic alternative) Pour some ice-cold alcopop vodka over a bowlful of frozen blueberries + raspberries, enough to submerge a third of them. Read my previous post here and here :)
Steamed Japanese Sweet Potatoes 1/2 kilo Japanese Sweet Potatoes (choose the thinner and shorter ones as they take a shorter time to be steamed) Wash the sweet potatoes and scrub lightly without bruising the skin. Place the sweet potatoes on a steel rack in some boiling water in a kuali. Steam for 15 mins and test with a skewer. Sweet potatoes are cooked when skewer is able to get through
I love guiling gao and find that it is so much cheaper if I were to make them myself with the ready mix which are being sold in the shop. Unfortunately, when I read the ingredients, I always find "tortoise shell" named as one of the ingredients. So one afternoon, when I was walking around Tropicana City Mall and looking around for a place to sit down to have afternoon tea, I found this shop selling guiling gao at Rm 5 a bowl. While at the shop I looked around discovered that they also sell the guiling gao powder as a ready mix - DIY - and it does not contain the 'tortoise shell". I was elated as I can now prepare my own guiling gao at my own convenience and do not have to visit the malls anymore when the crave arises.

Whenever I am around KLCC area in Jalan Ampang, I will never miss to have my lunch at the Kuan Yin Temple. Parking is free in the front compound of the temple. If you are blocking somebody, just leave your mobile number on the dash board and thereafter you can proceed to have lunch at the back of the temple. There are so many types of vege to choose from for your mix rice and at the other corner you may wish to have soup or dry noodles. There is also a fruit stall with cut fruits. At the drinks section, they have passion fruit or coconut water and also ice kacang. There is also a big pot of soup which is available daily - Free of charge (FOC) and then remainder food from morning session which can be fried meehoon or porridge which is also FOC. You may wish to make a donation at the temple after your lunch to help support breakfast which is being offered daily.

Had lunch with a friend who is not a vegetarian. So for non-vegetarians, you will find that the food and the cooking will be more or less the same only minus the meat but it will be replaced with more vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, beans, legumes, gourds and melons of your choice. Do try them and you will slowly learn to love vegetarian dishes. Marketing will be made much simpler as you only need to buy fruits and vegetables and preparation and cooking will be easier too.

Yay! A new vegetarian restaurant has sprouted in PJ, this time in a newly completed few rows of shops known as "10 Boulevard" located in PJU. When we arrived, we were graciously greeted by the staff who were all very friendly and warm. This eatery gives off a heavenly feel as white is being used as its theme color. Everything from walls to tables to lighting were white, making one feel very relaxed and comfortable. It felt like as if we were attending a garden party. The boss was seen walking around, stopping at every table and attending to every customer's need, making sure they felt at home at his new restaurant. Thumbs up for service!

Lily Asparagus - RM 10.90 The lily bulbs are a perfect compliment to the asparagus in this very traditional Chinese dish. The asparagus was young, juicy and crunchy.
Claypot Beancurd - RM 10.90 Personally, the tofu was nothing special, my favourite tofu is still from Kuan Yin (Section 17, PJ), however, this dish is definitely value for money. Soaked in a thick fu yee gravy, the tofu is accompanied with a generous amount of veggies.
Kam Hiong Fish - RM 11.90 Great dish! The fish was a little soft when it arrived at our table, not sure if it's supposed to be entirely crunchy or crunchy with a soft inside, nonetheless, we loved it as the fish was really 'hiong' (fragrant) with a tinge of 'spice' (can't think of the name now!) Pad Thai Spicy - RM 9.90 Not oily, which is an enormous plus point, though I like my pad thai very spicy. Excellent variety of green veggies that added the extra crunch and texture to this dish.
Mango Pudding - RM 3.90 The pudding was not sweet and was a good combination with the sweet mango topping
Home-made ice cream (sesame) - RM 5.90 Excellent dessert! The black sesame fragrance tingled my taste buds as the creamy texture of the ice-cream spread on my tongue. Highly recommended
Home-made ice cream (Chocolate) - RM 5.90 Typical chocolate ice-cream. Worth it if you're a chocolate fan like my dad.
Only complaint I have is the RM1 per hour parking. It's ridiculous to charge this rate especially 99% of the shops have yet to even open for business.
