Delectable Dimsum at 3 Virtues, Kowloon Hong Kong
One cannot claim that one has visited Hong Kong until she/he has tried the cantonese dimsum. Vegetarians fear not as you can visit 3 Virtues to fulfill that criteria. Famous for its dimsum menu, 3 Virtues is definitely a one-stop destination for great vegetarian dimsummers. 3 Virtues changes its menu every 2-3 months so be sure to try out the items available during each cycle before they're replaced!

Cheung Fun
Chinese Rice Rolls stuffed with Mushrooms and Vegetables
I like Hong Kong's Cheung Fun better than the Malaysian version as the sauce is not as sweet and overwhelming as the Sweet Sauce (甜酱)

Soup Dumplings
"Scallop" Dumplings
this dish is extremely yummy! I love the pepper flavored soup as it helps amplify the "scallop" flavor.

Har Gao
Dumplings stuffed with vegetables, "Prawns"

Cheung Fun
Chinese Rice Rolls stuffed with "Prawns"
Wonton soup
"Seafood" wontons with a very tasty vegetable broth

Xiao Long Bao
Yummy mini-cuties with a very juicy "pork" filling.

Siew Mai
Wonton skins stuffed with minced "Pork"

Hor Yip Fan
mushrooms, ''roasted pork'' and glutinous rice wrapped with a lotus leaf

Fabulous Fun at 星山
Haha.. Did I hear you asking for, "星山''? Where's that?"
Well, it's actually a place that is right in the middle of the ''Golden Triangle'' in downtown KL - Bukit Bintang. So when you translate it directly into Chinese, it becomes "星山''. As Chinese New Year is just 3 weeks away and to welcome the year of the rabbit, a lot of activity is abuzz in shops and shopping malls in Bukit Bintang,"星山' .

Here's Mr and Mrs Bunny at the Bukit Bintang Entry of Pavilion to welcome in the Rabbit Lunar New Year.

Visitors to the mall are invited to beat the drums for health, wealth, prosperity.

Plum Blossoms. How pretty!
Chinese lanterns

A lion climbing high to welcome a prosperous new year

Of course, after such a fun day, we had to rest our feet at a Taiwanese themed snack eatery. This is not the typical ice shavings (chunky and hard ice), but it's made up of a cotton-soft snow-ice. After having this dessert, I think I'll be very tempted to pour syrup and cut fruits over freshly fallen snow and dig in!

To cap off a fun post, here's a fun-ny T-shirt that is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone!
*From a T-shirt shop in Sungai Wang. If you're there, you should definitely stop by as there are a lot of other funny T-shirts.

Delicate and Delectable Dim Sum at Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐
Chinese New Year is just round the corner, and we were originally supposed to spend it in Hong Kong but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to regretfully cancel our plans. Since I was craving for some dim sum, I decided to give Din Tai Fung a try and I was surprised that they do have some vegetarian items on the menu!

Hung Dao Sar Xiao Long Bao 紅豆沙小籠包
RM 7
These were a delectable treat. Since Xiao Long Baos are famous for its thin skin, these red bean paste filled mini buns were a delight to enjoy. The sweetness of the red bean paste was just right and I am glad to inform that it is not one of those diabetes-inducing ones.

A closer look at the cutie!

Another dim sum that is worth ordering is the mushroom vegetable dumplings 香菇素菜餃子.
Priced at RM10.80, it is on the pricey end, but it is worth every single penny. The stuffings were not oily and also wasn't overly juicy either. One thing I like about Din Tai Fung is that vinegar is readily available at the table, and one can never fully enjoy the dumplings without free flow of vinegar! They should have also provided freshly cut ginger, then this dish would be perfect.

Egg-fried rice. RM9.00
Ah, this was very oily. I was trying to "break down" the oil by drizzling lots of vinegar on it.

The spinach was practically swimming in oil! If I were to order this dish the next time, I will definitely request for lesser oil to be used.
Priced at RM 13, it is a bit ridiculous for such a small plate of vegetables. I'd rather order another serving of mushroom and vegetable dumplings!

Hot Soy Bean Milk RM3.80
This was a huge cup of soy bean milk and was not too sweet. It went very well with my meal. Who says only chinese tea will go well with dim sum?

This is my first time seeing barley served with a slice of lemon. Surprisingly, the lemon actually complimented the barley very well. It added a sour twist to the smoothness of the barley.
RM3.80

Chef Low Organic Kitchen Sdn Bhd
Yay! A new vegetarian restaurant has sprouted in PJ, this time in a newly completed few rows of shops known as "10 Boulevard" located in PJU. When we arrived, we were graciously greeted by the staff who were all very friendly and warm. This eatery gives off a heavenly feel as white is being used as its theme color. Everything from walls to tables to lighting were white, making one feel very relaxed and comfortable. It felt like as if we were attending a garden party. The boss was seen walking around, stopping at every table and attending to every customer's need, making sure they felt at home at his new restaurant. Thumbs up for service!

The bright and heavenly interior

Lily Asparagus - RM 10.90
The lily bulbs are a perfect compliment to the asparagus in this very traditional Chinese dish. The asparagus was young, juicy and crunchy.
Claypot Beancurd - RM 10.90
Personally, the tofu was nothing special, my favourite tofu is still from Kuan Yin (Section 17, PJ), however, this dish is definitely value for money. Soaked in a thick fu yee gravy, the tofu is accompanied with a generous amount of veggies.
Kam Hiong Fish - RM 11.90
Great dish! The fish was a little soft when it arrived at our table, not sure if it's supposed to be entirely crunchy or crunchy with a soft inside, nonetheless, we loved it as the fish was really 'hiong' (fragrant) with a tinge of 'spice' (can't think of the name now!) Pad Thai Spicy - RM 9.90
Not oily, which is an enormous plus point, though I like my pad thai very spicy. Excellent variety of green veggies that added the extra crunch and texture to this dish.
Mango Pudding - RM 3.90
The pudding was not sweet and was a good combination with the sweet mango topping
Home-made ice cream (sesame) - RM 5.90
Excellent dessert! The black sesame fragrance tingled my taste buds as the creamy texture of the ice-cream spread on my tongue. Highly recommended
Home-made ice cream (Chocolate) - RM 5.90
Typical chocolate ice-cream. Worth it if you're a chocolate fan like my dad.
Only complaint I have is the RM1 per hour parking. It's ridiculous to charge this rate especially 99% of the shops have yet to even open for business.

Yau Char Kway Crepe at Boxhill Pancake Village
It was quite unfortunate that Vegie Hut at Boxhill was closed when we planned to visit that day (they were still on their "xmas holiday break"). Following the trend of Aussie businesses, shops are typically closed from xmas eve onwards until a certain date after new year. Indeed this is a time where most people have to stock up on their things and also try to patronize as many eateries that they favoured before the holiday period, otherwise their craving will have to wait at least one week before their appetite can be satiated. Luckily for us, Pancake Village in Boxhill Centro was open for business. Pancake Village offers crepes with very unique ingredients like eggs, yau char kway (deep fried chinese doughnut) etc.

Crepe with Yau Char Kway, sesame seed and spring onion
Onion Pancake
Mung Bean Pastry - two thumbs up!
$0.50 for a cup of hot soy milk with any crepe purchases.

BEST Loh Poh Bang in Singapore and I say Malaysia too!
I know I've posted this a few times but it definitely deserves constant reminders as to how delicious they are! Soft and Cottony, these babies definitely melt in your mouth, bringing a pleasant sweetness in your palette, not too sweet but sweet enough to cause one to smile uncontrollably after every bite. I'm not a big pastry fan but I can never resist these delicious Chinese roundies. Yep, i'm a loh poh bang fanatic. Nothing I've eaten is a match to these, not even the ones in Hong Kong! Do try them if you visit Singapore, as it's in a very convenient tourist area (within walkable distance from Bugis Junction, MRT- Bugis)

I have not tried the food at this restaurant as VHF is only a stone's throw away. Maybe next time I visit Singapore!

Jonker Street Oriental Dessert

Nowadays have been so hot and hazy and the best way to get away from the heat and poor air quality is to go roam around in a shopping mall. Not only that you can go watch a movie, window shop or best of all to go for good food hunting as there are so many new food outlets opened with new concept and latest styles of cooking. However, Jonker Street is still a little kiam-siap with the ingredients. We found a better place in Mid-Valley, which is at the Food Court over at Gardens, better "liao" for around the same price.
