Organic Chef Low
Yum Yum. Am back to post more goodies found at Chef Low. Not only are the food organic, the white theme of the restaurant gives a very elegant ambience. Perhaps the management can consider to play some nature sounds like birds chirping in the park, that way it would really feel as if we're attending the Queen's garden party in Buckingham Palace.

I simply love the filing as it is very tasty and flavorful. Thankfully it is not too spicy! :)

Fragrant 'Snail' Mushrooms

This is my FAVE dish at Chef Low. You must try this dish if you visit Chef Low. Mushrooms are deep fried to perfection and is packed full of flavor, something that is perfect to go with rice. There's nothing more you can ask for.

Herbal Mix - I like the fact that I do not feel thirsty after a meal at Chef Low, so I can comfortably help myself to the "soup" or gravy without having to worry about the MSG effect afterwards. Raw mango salad topped with peanuts and chili flakes. Perfect as a palette cleanser.

The Great War of Char Kway Teow
This post is about a Malaysian dish. A very classic one that every Malaysian will crave for every once in awhile (if not everyday). But where's the best place to have it?

If we're at shopping malls, and when we choose to dine at Madam Kwan's / Little Penang Cafe, we normally go for their Char Kway Teow as this dish is easily customizable to suit vegetarians. Since hawker centers are not accessible in malls, who serves better Char Kway Teow? I would think Madam Kwan's as the Char Kway Teow is of bigger portion (though it's more expensive) and is less oily. The Char Kway Teow at Madam Kwan's is also drier, which means it has more Wok Hei (锅气).

Nevertheless, nothing beats the Char Kway Teow at Blue Boy Mansion. Even my non-vegetarian friends thinks it's the best CKT they have ever had! Bento Box and Little Wok At Rasa Food Arena, Suria KLCC
Suria KLCC has become my recent hangout on weekends as I find lesser crowds compared to the crazy packed Mid-Valley. However, sadly there are no vegetarian restaurants in KLCC, but fret not, as you can still find some vegetarian food in the hawker center at Rasa Food Arena on the fourth floor of the mall.

Ma Por Tofu Bento Set - RM13.90
Delicious Ma Po Tofu with a generous serving of japanese steamed rice, vegetable tempura, coleslaw, mashed potatoes

The bento box also comes with a bowl of miso soup and a cup of piping hot green tea

Vegetarian Mushroom Rice @ Little Wok Rasa - RM 6.90
The chef was very generous with the veggies on this dish! Yum yum.. This is what I call a truly colorful variety of veggies on rice, from onions, to choy sum, to bell peppers to shitake mushrooms!

Home made Lui Cha
">God-mum makes very tasty and healthy Lui Cha and when we were invited over for her specialty I was elated. Some of the herbs like the basil and mint leaves used for the grounded paste were fresh from her garden. Sesame seeds are being added into the paste mixture to make it even more aromatic. You can choose whatever vegetables you fancy. Cut or chopped them up and fried individually to be added separately onto your rice. As for the soup, god-mum has some secrets to share too. Instead of the usual soup with plain paste which are normally being served in restaurants, god-mum added lecithin powder, brewer's yeast and wheat germ onto the grounded paste soup. You can either eat your rice and drink the soup separately or the way I like it, that is as a soupy rice by adding the whole bowl of soup right into the rice. Mmmmmmmmm..... delicious. I had a second helping of just the soup to satisfy my palate until the next invitation, haha. Thanks god-mum and god-dad for the lovely meal.

Very delicious Vege-Japanese Roasted Eel with sauce
During the Chinese New Year, a relative presented me with a packet of vegetarian eel which she claims is very good and I definitely will love it. It comes with a pre-packed packet of sweet dark soy sauce. According to instructions, we have to thaw the vegetarian eel first and then fry it with a little oil in a non-stick pan till a little crispy on both sides. Dish out onto a plate and top with the packet of sauce. I have tasted different types of fish from so many other companies and I do agree with my relative that this one is really so smackingly tasty and very extraordinary. I strongly recommend it. It can be bought from Yu Yan Sang for RM 9.25

Grabing a Quick Bite at State, PJ
With our busy schedules, sometimes we have no choice but to settle for something quick and easy, that is grabbing a 饭盒 faan harp (takeaway) and rush off to have it elsewhere. If you're around PJ State, there's a vegetarian stall that offers a great variety of dishes to choose from. We are quite happy with the food as the food is within our "Low Salt/Little Oil/No MSG" standards. One thing I love about this stall is that the cook keeps replenishing green vegetables, so you won't have to worry about not being able to get your vegetable fix for the day. Green is GOOD!

Lunch outing with friends at Cameleon Vegetarian Restaurant
My friend was dying to add some new touches to her home as she was hoping to spice up her life with new furniture. So, she suggested to visit the furniture fair held at the Putra World Trade Center hoping to find some suitable and modern furniture designs. However, we were denied entry when we got there as we were wearing shorts and thongs. We were not disappointed as we also found out that the fair is more suitable for businesses and not for everyday consumers like us. As Cameleon was a stone's throw away, we decided to have a quick lunch. My friend loved the Kam Hiong Sliced Fish, as she loved the unique flavor of the dish. As for me, I liked the Western Mushroom as it was very springy and fragrant. The only downside is that it was a little too salty for my liking. The Hong Kong Kai Lan was fresh and crispy and we were very glad that it was not overly oily or salty. Overall, it was a great place with good food to catch up with an awesome friend.
