This vegetarian restaurant is situated right in the heart of Melbourne, on Swanton Street and I believe is run by hare krishna's volunteers . Mostly office workers and students patronise this restaurant. Price is $6.50 which include rice set, dessert and drinks but they offer discounted meals for students, the elderly and other concession card holders. Extra helping and top up of food and drinks are available at no extra costs.

So glad to find that another vegetarian restaurant has just been opened in One Utama Shopping Centre as it has been quite difficult to find tasty and reasonably priced vegetarian food here. The above are all priced at RM 7.00 each and portions are really generous. Will definitely go back to try others on the menu.

Claypot rice..... best time to indulge in one is during a cold winter day in Melbourne, where, often than not, you'll find yourself shivering due to the cold winds piercing through your skin and straight into your spine, and yes, Melbourne winds are really THAT bad. Known for its four-seasons in a day, Melbourne boasts relatively good claypot rice (for a vegetarian) as it's quite hard to get a good claypot rice place in Malaysia willing to omit the meat and replace with tofu.

Fatt Koh is a common sight on Chinese alters and is also fancied by many Chinese all around the world. We came across a pre-mix in the asian grocery and decided to give it a go. Surprisingly it wasn't hard to make at all!
Ingredients:
-Fatt Koh pre-mix (we bought the pondan brand)
-Water
Baking accessories
-Cupcake paper cases
-aluminium cupcake tray
-steamer / wok (with lid)
-beater

Method:
1. Mix the yeast and fatt koh mix (both provided by the faat koh premix)
2. Add water as directed on the box
3. Beat the mixture until you get a constant mix.
4. Boil a suitable amount of water in a wok / start your steamer.
5. Place the cupcake paper cases into the aluminium cupcake tray and add the mix into the cases (until about 3/4 full)
6. Add the aluminium tray into the steamer / wok.
7. Steam for about 15 minutes with the lid on.
8. Remove the cupcakes and allow them to fully cool before serving (unless you want to have it hot and don't mind the sticky texture)

Shown above, is the front counter of Light Vegetarian Restaurant in Jordan, Hong Kong. It's very convenient to just pick up a quick and tasty snack from the little service window when you are passing by as it's only seconds away from the main shopping street (Nathan Road) in Kowloon, Hong Kong. If you wish to rest your feet or have a table to sit down and share your shopping spree with your friends, they do have a sit down section inside. You have the option to go for Ala-carte or join the rush for their "yum cha" buffet. From 3pm - 5pm, there's almost a 50% discount for their buffet and can be quite worth it if you're prepared to stuff yourself. The last time we were there (Dec 2008), it was around HKD$38 per pax, not including tea charges. They used to serve better quality dim sum a few years back but standards have dropped since then but still worth a try if you have a big appetite. Otherwise, I strongly recommend 3 virtues (which is just situated diagonally across from this place)
