Auburgine with olives and onions
Olives are concentrated in monounsaturated fats and a good source of vitamin E. In addition to vitamin E, olives contain avariety of beneficial active phytonutrient compounds including polyphenols and flavonoids, which also appear to have significant anti-inflammatory properties.
Vitamin E is the body's primary fat-soluble antioxidant. It goes after and directly neutralizes free radicals in all the fat-rich areas of the body. Free radical damage can lead to numerous ailments. For example, when free radicals cause the oxidation of cholesterol, the oxidized cholesterol damages blood vessels and builds up in arteries, and can eventually lead to heart attack or stroke. So, by preventing the oxidation of cholesterol, the nutrients in olives help to prevent heart disease.

Ingredients:
1 medium size aubergine (cut into long strips)
10 pcs pickled olives (sliced)
1 big onion
A little olive oil
Method:
1. Fry onions in a little oil
2. Add in aubergine and fry for 2 minutes
3. Lastly add in sliced olives and a little salt

Homemade Italian Pizza
It was a great honor to be invited to Uncle Silvio's house for a genuine Italian pizza feast. The pizzas we ate were made from scratch and we are tremendously lucky to be able to witness the pizza making process. The wait was quite long though, as the preparation of the ingredients was quite time consuming, but the end product was definitely worth the wait. The cheese was able to stretch until the "ceiling" exactly like the pizza hut ads (though it's never the case when we visit pizza hut). Thanks for the wonderful experience Uncle Silvio and Aunty Mei.

Ingredients:
Dough:
Plain Flour
Salt
Yeast
Warm water

Pizza:
Tomato Paste
Capsicum
Eggplant
Tomato
Zucchini
Garlic
Onions
Mushrooms
fresh mozzarella cheese

Steps:
1. mix a packet of instant yeast with warm water
2. add to dough mixture in a mixer
3. mix until even, adding flour bit by bit until the texture below is obtained. Leave to rise.

4. saute the pizza toppings (until cooked)
5. Pat the dough flat on a pizza platter.
6. Remember to poke little holes in the dough with a fork.
7. Add the toppings! (tip: add tomato paste first, followed by mozzarella cheese, then the toppings)
and VOILA!

You can also request for vegetarian chee cheong fun. Otherwise, you can go for ice kacang or just toast with kopi/teh.

Restoran Sayur-sayuran Kuan Yin
In terms of convenience, taste and price, Restoran Sayur-sayuran Kuan Yin is still the best place to go as normally you need not have to drive around looking for a good spot to park your car as you can usually find one just infront or not far away from the shop. Choice of my dishes today are delicious except that I find the 'Mui Choy' in the 'Mui choy kow yook' rather salty. However, if you accompany it with rice then the taste should be alright.

Snow fungus with packham pear and red dates
Cannot afford to have bird's nest everyday? Do not feel bad because here is a recipe that will still provide you with all the essence you are looking for in a bird's nest soup. Long known for its ability to rejuvenate one's complexion, snow fungus is a popular dessert for Chinese women. By adding red dates to this healthy dessert helps improve blood circulation and strengthen the heart and lungs. Pear is also a very rejuvenating fruit when boiled. Adding red dates and pear gives a natural sweetness to the snow fungus soup thus decreasing the need to add sugar.

Watercress soup with honey and red dates
Hot and hazy days are here and a big bunch of watercress boiled with honey and red dates in a crock pot will help to quench parched throats. Pluck the leaves from the stems to be fried separately to make another dish for lunch.

Watercress is brimming with over 15 vitamins and minerals, gram for gram containing more vitamin C than oranges, more calcium than milk and more iron than spinach. Research is also highlighting its role in the fight against cancer. The results of a new study being conducted by the University of Southampton into watercress’s potential ability to suppress breast cancer cell development are due to be announced later this year.

Natural Healthy Food Vegetarian Restaurant
Had opportunity to talk to the restaurant owner's wife, Ms Lim who informed that they practise less oil, less salt, less sugar, no MSG in their cooking. Ozonated water is used to wash all their fruits and vegetables. Rice is cooked with a piece of organic charcoal which can absorb chlorine and pesticide residue in water. Her husband is the chef and according to her, he is particular to cook his dishes fresh and all sauces and paste used are all specially made by him. So all who visit this restaurant can really be assured that food served are delicious and healthy.

Walnut, cranberry, carrot cake
Looking for a recipe without the guilt of butter or margerine look no further, here's a recipe that would please the health freaks.
A single carrot will supply all your vitamin A needs for the whole day. Research has also shown that this vegetable has a protective effect against ultraviolet light. Chinese medical practitioners recommend eating carrots to give your liver more energy.
Walnuts are one of the best plant sources of protein. They are rich in fiber, B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E. Walnuts, in particular, have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts.Walnut has been demonstrated as a part of heart-healthy diet, it has been shown to lower the blood cholesterol levers in a few human trials and can also help ward off health problems like ulcer and gum problems.
Although most of us only know that cranberries are good for urinary tract infection, studies have also shownthat there are other benefits of this humble fruit.

Ingredients:
1 cup walnuts and cranberries (soaked in rum)
1 cup grated carrot
185ml of olive oil
225 gm flour
200 gm sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Method:
Mix well all the above ingredients and spoon into a baking tray and bake in 180C for 45 minutes

Good venue to call for a gathering with friends as the place is not too crowded and with a cosy corner, you can talk loudly (tend to be that when you have a big crowd and all got to raise their voice to make each other be heard), laugh and make a lot of noise. Only that on hot afternoons these days, with just celing fans and weak air-conditioning, it is not so comfortable for people who cannot take the heat.

Kechara Oasis
You can be right at the door-step of this restaurant if you park your car at Basement 1 (B1). They have different set menu for everyday of the week except for Sunday. We ordered the Saturday Set Menu C which was priced at RM168.00 and is inclusive of a pot of Chinese tea and soup of the day. The Butter Mushrooms was really crispy and tasty so we ordered a second plate but when we got the bill we were shocked to find that it was really very expensive at RM48.00 for that few pieces of abalone mushrooms. The other dishes were just very ordinary and the deep fried fish was quite cold when it was served to us.
