Was craving for a bowl of piping hot noodles to get me past the cold winter night and decided to try the new packet of Vietnamese noodle soup paste (Asian Home Gormet brand) I bought from Coles.
Ingredients (serves two)
2 serves of Rice vermicelli
1xCarrot sliced
1/2 bowl of cauliflower sliced
2 buttom mushrooms the size of your palm sliced
1/2 bunch of enoki mushrooms
150 of firm tofu cubed
1 medium sized onion chopped
750ml of water
Steps:
1) Bring the water to a boil, add the paste and chopped onions and stir well
2) Add the rest of the ingredients and let it cook for a few minutes
3) Meanwhile, cook the rice vermicelli in a separate pot
4) When they come to a boil, add vermicelli to the main pot and serve hot after topping with some oregano and ground black pepper
Vietnamese Vegetarian @ Vina Vegetarian Restaurant, Newtown, Sydney, Australia
We were simply thrilled to be able to locate a Vietnamese eatery, no, not just a vegetarian-friendly one, but a 100% vegetarian (vegan in fact) one! Located just minutes from the busy Sydney CBD in the bustling and filled with interesting little shops, is a town called 'Newtown', which I can't help but find it very similar to Brunswick in Melbourne. Newtown is a little gem known for all the awesome restaurants, cafes, take-aways, and it is also home to another 100% thai vegan restaurant. I did not get to try the Thai restaurant (Green Palace - 182 King St, Newtown, NSW) on this occasion and will most definitely find time to try it out!
Vina is a family-run business and has the most awesome waitress ever. She was highly efficient in showing us to our table, bringing us a bottle of water without us having to ask and also recommended us the best Vietnamese noodles we have ever had!
I highly recommend that you try this: Vina Pho Bo (Mock Beef Noodle Soup) $12 The soup has a cinnamon kick to the "beef broth". It is not spicy but I would say it's somewhat sweet to the palette - something I have never tasted back home in Malaysia. 5 stars!
Spicy Vietnamese Rice Noodle Soup $12 This somehow tastes like the Malaysian "prawn noodle", and is not exactly spicy (well, not to a Malaysian that is used to extremely spicy food). So, naturally, I wouldn't have enjoyed this dish as much as I was told that it is "really spicy". I'd prefer to have the beef noodle anytime.
Fresh Rice Paper Rolls (3 for $6) These rice paper rolls are filled with rice noodles, mock ham, tofu, lettuce and mint. I felt that it wasn't worth the money, but we liked the sauce a lot. The mock ham added a flavor that you will not get elsewhere, so that must be a plus point for this eatery, though too much of mock stuff is not really healthy.
All in all a very enjoyable visit. I'd definitely go for the Beef Noodle again during my next visit. :D

Located to next Chilli's in 1Utama, is a nice restaurant that boasts a great dining atmosphere and delicious food. I believe this is the only place (at least to my knowledge) that serves hot peanuts as starters! Loved it to bits!
Stir Fried Lotus Root Great dish! not oily and a very generous serving of lotus roots Starters - Warm Peanuts - would definitely come back for this!Avocado Red Bean Shake - RM 6.50 Tastes a little like weak macha tea latte. The red bean really compliments the drink! A must try when visiting 1Utama

You can be right at the door-step of this restaurant if you park your car at Basement 1 (B1). They have different set menu for everyday of the week except for Sunday. We ordered the Saturday Set Menu C which was priced at RM168.00 and is inclusive of a pot of Chinese tea and soup of the day. The Butter Mushrooms was really crispy and tasty so we ordered a second plate but when we got the bill we were shocked to find that it was really very expensive at RM48.00 for that few pieces of abalone mushrooms. The other dishes were just very ordinary and the deep fried fish was quite cold when it was served to us.
