NIce and tasty cucumber and tomato salad
The cucumber and tomato salad that we had during our pot luck party recently was very tasty that I just had to ask my friend for the recipe. I am so surprised that it was so simple to prepare and yet taste so fantastic.
Method:
1 cucumber - diced
2 tomatoes - diced
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp honey
Mix well and serve.

Cucumber is very low in calories and very high in potassium.

Fed up of having gatherings at the restaurants so all of us decided that this time we have a pot luck party at a friend's house where we can sample each other's cooking and have a more relaxing time while eating and chatting in the comfort of the home. It was a great party and we really had quality time spent catching up with the latest news! Will be getting the recipes from some of them to share with our readers in later postings.

Delicious Cendol at Delicious Nyonya at Ttropicana City Mall

After shopping around Tropicana City Mall for a few hours, it is only natural that you would want to rest your tired feet and look for a quiet, nice environment with good and reasonably priced dessert just to rest and unwind for a while. Delicious Nyonya has got all these and we were qutie happy with the food except we feel that the cendol is slightly overpriced.

Cendol - RM 4.90
Black glutinous rice dessert - RM 2.90

Good take away food from Tian Yian
Is it because it is the only vegetarian restaurant in the area? The restaurant is always crowded especially around lunch time and dinner time. We were there during lunch and as we could not get a table to sit down, so we placed orders to have take away. Home is slightly more than 40 minutes away and the food is still warm and tasty when we got to sit down to eat them. The sauce for the vegetarian chicken satay was really good, thick and rich with peanuts and coconut milk. The vegetarian assam fish went very well with rice.

Earth Day at Ikano Power Center

Recently, we were bombarded with grim headlines on news sites and newspapers. Firstly it was the 2008 Sichuan earthquake that left close to 70,000 dead and 400,000 injured. 2 years later, struck the Haitian earthquake that further devastated the lives of impoverished Haitians. Just last week, the Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption disrupted air travel across the globe. Let us take a moment, step back, and think if this is Mother Nature telling us that she is ill and fed up about our negligence towards her. This Thursday, the 22nd of April 2010 marks this year’s Earth Day, and we should all play a part to raise awareness about the importance to stay ‘Green’

Fun and informative schedule at Ikano Power Center

Hor yip fan
I wanted something light and quick. Nothing beats a Chinese hor yip fan which is filling to eat, tasty and nutritious. Nature’s hor yip fan is packed with flavor and I particularly like eating the juicy mushroom and chestnut. Really should learn how to make my own. Anyone got any good recipe to share?

Good Meal At Madm Kwan's
It can be quite inconvenient for vegetarians to have a meal out with non-vegetarians as most of them are usually not comfortable eating vegetarian food and also there is no proper vegetarian restaurants in Mid Valley Megamall. We finally ended up in Madam Kwan's and found out from the captain they can cater to us and alter some of the dishes to suit our special needs. After the orders were placed and the drinks arrived, the waiter came back to inform that theydo add in oyster sauce for the "Loh Han Vege" and enquired if it is ok for us. We explained that if it is not vegetarian oyster sauce then they can just replace it with plain soya sauce. We were quite happy as that shows that the chef knows of our needs and is concerned of what can and cannot be added to our dishes. We were happy with our orders. The vegetarian char kway teow is very tasty and not too oily/salty. The Loh Han Vege's portion was big even though we had requested for a small portion and was delicious too. The bubur cha-cha was rich with coconut milk and was not very sweet as served by most other restaurants.

Vegetarian Char Kway Teow - RM 15.90
Steamed White Rice - RM 1.90Loh Han Vege - RM 15.80
Bubur Cha-Cha - RM 6.90

The crust is as soft as cotton candy at Spaghetti Grill
It is extremely hard to find good pizza in Malaysia nowadays, especially since I have exposed my palette to authentic Italian hand made pizza! However, I am extremely pleased to find something at least up to par with my expectation at spaghetti grill in MidValley.

RM 9.95++
Vegetarian Pizza
The crust is so soft that you can fold it like a burrito!
Generous amount of cheese but could do with a little more topping.

Plus RM 2 for a glass of juice (lunch set comes with free bottomless soft drinks, + RM2 for bottomless juice)
Tastes like bottled juice like Just Juice, but oh well,
it's a great thirst quencher especially during the hectic lunch hour.

HARI ORGANIK

Nowadays, there is an increasing demand for organic products.
Here's an opportunity for you to experience how you can be organic
and be on the road to achieve good health.

An upcoming "Hari Organik" (organic day) would be teaching you how to recycle your household waste into compost and eco-enzymes and use them to grow organic vegetables in your own garden. This community-based event is to allow consumers to buy local organic products straight from the farmers.

Great find at Vietnam Kitchen at 1Utama
Located to next Chilli's in 1Utama, is a nice restaurant that boasts a great dining atmosphere and delicious food. I believe this is the only place (at least to my knowledge) that serves hot peanuts as starters! Loved it to bits!

Stir Fried Lotus Root
Great dish! not oily and a very generous serving of lotus roots

Starters - Warm Peanuts - would definitely come back for this!Avocado Red Bean Shake - RM 6.50
Tastes a little like weak macha tea latte.
The red bean really compliments the drink! A must try when visiting 1Utama

Crispy Hiong Bang & Tasty Tau Sa Bang
The young man who is selling his home-baked cookies from the boot of his car in front of Public Bank Berhad at the Damansara Utama branch comes all the way from Jenjarom. He informs that he will be setting up stall every Saturday. The hiong bang is very aromatic and crispy with a very generous filling of malt candy. Tau Sar Bang can be eaten with just a bite and melt away when placed in the mouth. Also on sale are Loh Por Bang (but it does not look appealing at all, so I did not buy any) and 3-in-one and 2-in-one coffee mix.

Tau Sar Bang - RM 5.50 for 15pcs
Hiong Bang - RM 4.50 for 8 pcsLocation: From a car boot in front of Public Bank, Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.
Available every Saturday only.
