MG's Cafe Takeaway - one of the best grab and go service!
For working Malaysians, our busy and hectic lifestyle tends to eat into our lunch time, making it seem impossible to sit and dine in a proper restaurant. I tend not to mix my lunch time with my work, but I had to succumb to the negative forces that took away my lunch privilege. So, I decided to go for MG Cafe's takeaway as I really like the love put into their takeaway meals. You really have to try it once to really get what I mean!

Sambal Onigiri - perfect grab and go that's readily available at the counter

Tiramisu - made with yoghurt, cream cheese, coffee, etc

Rendang donburi - looks like something from a japanese restaurant isn't it?

The best would be the assam laksa. You would never think of taking away a soup-based noodle from a restaurant, but MG makes it a perfect takeaway. They generously seperate the noodle from the soup using two paper bowls. I really like this concept as it is never a good idea to put boiling hot soup into a plastic bag, depending on its quality and whether it is able to withstand the heat. MG eliminates all my worries!

A yummy meal indeed!!! This is where I start craving for my 2nd bowl but the unfortunate thing about takeaways is that you can never have seconds unless you plan ahead!

I'm back to try more goodies at MG Cafe, Sri Hartamas
I'm back for the usual feast at MG Cafe. Luckily my friends were not as "loyal" as me, so I do have a few new items to share with all of you, and of course, to highlight my usual favorites!

Assam Laksa
Faithful followers of this blog would know that this is what I ordered. I don't know, but I never had the urge to try anything else at this eatery as I am still extremely obsessed with this bowl of delicious assam laksa.

Rendang Donburi
Here's another Malaysianized Japanese dish where the accompaniments are 'Mutton' Rendang. I guess it's somewhat similar to Nasi Rendang except the rice used is not cooked in coconut milk.

Sambal Onigiri
This is a Malaysianized Onigiri as the filling is made from a sambal flavored mushroom stalk. Extremely tasty and definitely worth a try.

Chocolate Brownie
Indulging in this after enjoying my usual favorites has got to be the best way to cap off a great meal. It was not too dry, nor was it too wet. I actually think this is better than the Brownies served at Secret Recipe!

Any good place to recommend for good vegetarian assam laksa?
I love assam laksa and whenever the crave is there, the only place that I can think of and feel that it is still the best place to go for it is still MG's Cafe. Will be so happy if anyone can let me know if there is another place which also serves this tasty dish. I will never have enough of it. This time I also tried their yam cake and find that it is just the right consistency with rich taste of yam and portion is so generous.

Yam Cake - RM 8.90
Origiri Vege Sushi - Sambal - RM 3.20

MG Cafe - Desa Sri Hartamas
Came back from Melbourne and was craving for assam laksa and immediately the most authentic vegetarian assam laksa at MG Cafe came straight to my mind. Drove there with some friends and without looking at the menu just placed my order for the assam laksa. All other friends also ordered the same except for one who went for curry noodles instead. However, I feel the assam laksa soup is a bit watery, not as thick as it used to be but otherwise the taste is still as good. My friend who ordered the curry noodles was not too happy with his curry noodles as he suspects that they are the dried pre-packed ones but he was nevertheless quite happy with the taste also. We placed side orders for the tuna and sambal sushi and find that the sambal flavor to be more delicious.

Assam Laksa - RM 6.50
Sth E.Asia Curry Noodles - RM 8.50
Onigiri Vege Sushi - tuna - RM3.20
Onigiri Vege Sushi - sambal - RM 3.20

MG's Cafe - Sambal Belacan
This pre-packed sambal belacan is made by MG's themselves and the taste is simply delicious. I find the belacan is a bit dry, so I added two tablespoon of water to it and heated it up in a non stick pan. So there is a little gravy and it is just perfect to go with your santan rice if you are making your own nasi lemak. You will definitely go back for more.
