Ever get the urge to have breakfast meals for lunch, tea, dinner or supper? I know I do, and very often too, which is why I am a regular patron at coffee bean, not just for their fantastic ultimate ice blended and skinny cafe latte, but also for their delicious pasta and 'food for thought' breakfast-all-day set. After these cafes sprung out like mushrooms after the rain in the past decade, I find myself attracted and probably addicted to the strong aroma of brewed Arabica coffee beans, just like how everyone reacts to the 'free smells' at the Famous Amos stalls.
The signature ambiance at all coffee bean. Pictured is the coffee bean and tea leaf at Curve, Mutiara Damansara.
Food for thought (RM11.50+) Half boiled eggs served with 4 pieces of crispy toast with a healthy salad of cherry tomatoes, lettuce, cranberries and almond flakes. Each Food for thought set comes with a cup of tea or coffee, with free refills before 11am.
Tomato herb pasta (RM14.90+) Love the pasta here at coffee bean! The bread served on the side greatly compliments this dish and goes especially well with the generous amount of tomato herb sauce.
A pampering lunch at Nathalie's Gourmet Cuisine, Solaris Dutamas
We have been dying to go to an authentic french cuisine, and after reading all the good reviews about Nathalie's Gourmet Cuisine, we decided to tantalize our taste buds. After Ratatouille, I have been dying to try out the now famous french dish, I was a little disappointed that I was not able to get that at Nathalie's. However, as their menu changes every month, I may get lucky!
A thing to note when you are visiting Nathalie's is that you must not be in a hurry to going somewhere as the food do take a bit of time to get to your tables. It was quite a 'torture' while we were waiting for our food as the sweet aroma from the kitchen kept us salivating at the edge of our seats. Thankfully the famous french loaves with generous amount of butter kept us busy. We spent about 3 hours in total to finish the 3 course meal. Since we do spend quite a long time at the place, I would like to make a small suggestion: to improve on the seating comfort as the hard high stools were a little uncomfortable.
French loaves with lots of butter, cappuccino and a very unique salt and pepper "shaker"
Crispy Tomato, Sweet Pepper and Basil Tart (RM24) This dish look so appealing that one part of me just want to admire it and the other part could not wait to sink my teeth into them. The capsicum was baked to perfection and was sweet just like the name of the dish suggests. However, the pastry was a little bit burnt.
Tomato and Cheese Ravioli, Tomato Broth (RM32) Very filling dish, and the tomato sauce consistency was just right, though we find french food a little too salty for our liking. This is the first time I have had vegetarian raviolis outside Malaysia as raviolis tend to be filled with minced meat instead of vegetarian fillings.
Raspberry Souffle, Pistachio Dacquoise, Pistachio and Raspberry Coulis (RM20) Selection of small desserts (Tatin Apples in a Verrine, Berry Tart and Coulis, Caramel Macaron) with cappuccino (RM18) I would go back for the frozen souffle anytime. It was perfect. This is lighter than the Italian gelati and does not have a heavy and guilty feeling afterward. It is certainly the highlight of this visit. The fresh raspberries made me miss Melbourne a lot. (Read about my raspberry picking adventure here
Nathalie's do get busy at times. So be sure to make a reservation in advance!

Was looking for a place to sit and chat with my close friends on a lazy Sunday afternoon. After reading good reviews about the nice atmosphere here at Departure Lounge, we decided to give it a try and we were definitely pleased with our choice. Though it does not boast of a very elegant interior ambiance, but we felt very much at home with the cozy and simple deco.
Enough reading materials to last you through your current and future visits :) Obviously, as the name suggest, this place is stocked with a lot of travel books. I bet this place would be able to make tons of $$$ if it were operating at an airport instead! *Idea??!!*
For my next trip to China! (Watch this space for vegetarian dishes from Chengdu, China)
Departure Lounge also provides board games for the bored. We opted for Monopoly, which kept us occupied for hours. Lesson learnt: from the game...........keep buying and buying, building and building!
Ice Lemon Tea
Moroccan Mint Tea
Do It My Way Breakfast (RM 8.90 for 3 items, extra for fresh mushrooms instead of canned) Of course, I opted for fresh!

Yay! Another new veggie restaurant in Kota Damansara and that it serves some pretty good vege food makes us fellow veggies feel so blessed. Last weekend we finally found time to patronize this restaurant and had no problem locating this restaurant. It was quite crowded when we got there and most were dining with their families. Hopefully, through their parents, the kids can learn to appreciate vegetarianism and that it is just as nutritious and tasty as meaty dishes.
This eatery serves food that is quite different to the ones I normally frequent, making it a very good alternative restaurant.

Gu Loh Yuk deep fried to perfection.
Shark's fin Soup - highly recommended as the consistency is just right and very flavorsome
Beancurd with abalone mushrooms Very tasty but the chef should add more colorful veggies like capsicum or carrots to make it a more colourful dish! Hehe

Very good food at an Italian Restaurant - Favola, Le Meridian, Kuala Lumpur
I was very surprised but elated to receive a call from my friend who informed that another of our mutual friend whom we have not met for so many years offered to treat us to dinner at an Italitan Restauran, Favola in LeMeridian. Luckily for me, my friend chose an Italian restaurant as vegetarian food is always readily available at Italian eateries. I started off the night with the bread/breadsticks that came with three different types of dips. Then came my roasted portobello which was so divine and right with the fillings. I loved the florentino pizza the best but I have to comment that it is a little too salty for my 100% liking. The pizza was more than enough for one so I requested to doggie bag the remaining slices.
I had the doggie bagged pizza for lunch the next day and was very surprised to find the crust still stayed soft despite being in the fridge over night. I ate them without the need to reheat and was still very tasty.
I strongly recommend this restaurant to all Italian food lovers. Definitely worth the once-in-awhile splurge.

We should always try to aim for simple, natural and healthy meal. For me, this is always available over at my favourite restaurant, Kuan Yin at Section 17, Petaling Jaya. This time, I brought a non-vegetarian friend to try out this restaurant. He was very happy with the food, he especially loved the homemade tofu.

4 Season Tofu This dish is a must try as the homemade tofu is the best I've ever tried!
A very healthy breakfast with Portobello Mushrooms
I love portobello mushrooms and instead of baking it, I have tried to saute them this time and found that it taste just as good and eaten together with a piece of toast and a cup of coffee, it turned out to be a very satisfying breakfast.
Ingredients: A packet of portobello mushrooms from Cold Storage - washed and sliced A bunch of asparagus - washed and cut into 3 cm lengths A handful of yellow grape tomatoes An egg whisked with a little milk
Method:
Heat a little olive oil in a non stick pan and add in portobello mushrooms and fry over medium heat until mushrooms turn soft.
Fry asparagus in the same pan over medium heat until slightly soft. Dish out onto the same plate.
Fry the egg with a little olive oil and scramble them and then add on to the portobello mushrooms and asparagus. Add in the yellow grape tomatoes too. Finally sprinkle generously with pepper, a little salt and balsamic vinegar.
According to Healthcastle.com, the nutritional benefits for portobello mushroom is as follows: One cup of grilled portobello slices contains: Calories: 42 kcal Fat: 0.9 gm Carbohydrates: 5.9gm Protein: 5gm Fiber: 2.7gm Glycemic Index (GI): Low (below) 55
Portobello mushrooms contains a serious nutritional punch, they are low in fat and high in fiber which is good for our health. Had wanted my friends to have a good and enjoyable gathering. so I chose Chef Low Organic Kitchen. Firstly because of the easy parking (though I feel the management of 10 Boulevard should not be charging any fees yet as most of the shops are yet to be occupied. Presently, I see only Chef Low Organic Kitchen is opened for business), secondly because of the delicious food and lastly because of the friendly staff and clean cozy, enviroment there. My friends were all very happy with the generous serving of all the dishes and all agree that they taste good too. I do not believe in mock ingredients and was indeed very satisfied that no such ingredients were used. Even the prawns were actually fried abalone mushrooms. Finally, when came to settling the bill, all of us were surprised and of course more than happy to note the very reasonable charges. We even got a RM 2 discount and the final bill (there were 10 of us and we had to struggle to finish all the dishes) came to RM 146.05 with a 5 % service charge included.
