I love Japanese food but unfortunately for vegetarians, there aren't many dishes to choose from. After a good satisfying meal at Sushi Tei in Tropicana City, we decided to give Sakae Sushi a try when we visited 1Utama on Sunday. We ordered the Yasai Tempura and Cha Soba, and from the sushi train we managed to get a plate of edame and also a plater of three small mochi. There is a tap at each and every table where you can get own hot water for your green tea. The pricing is not quite worth the serving size at Sakae Sushi and I do not think I will returning to this eatery in the future!
Yasai Tempura - RM 7.90
Cha Soba - RM 9.90 Mochi (3 pcs/ plate) - RM 3.90
Soya Bean (per plate) - RM 5.90
Hot Green Tea - RM 2.00 per cup - refillable at table

Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant - the family restaurant
Kuan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant in Section 17, Petaling Jaya is still one of the very family oriented restaurant for families to have meals when one is not in the mood to cook. You need not be worried that having too much of outside may not be healthy as this restaurant serves many home cooked like dishes and they also give you a soup of the day, complimentary on the house. I have been having meals for quite a number of years from this restaurant and believe that they use very little ajinomoto as I have not once experienced any sort of thirst after my meals with them.
Complimentary Soup of the day
Cabbage with Sohoon - RM 12
Hot-plate Vegetarian Fish - RM 13

Was invited to have buffet lunch at the Atrium Cafe, Pyramid Tower Hotel. As a vegetarian I find that the spread of food is quite sufficient from raw to cooked and also to desserts. Service is good and ambience is pleasant. To start off you can go for fruits first followed by fresh vegetable salads. After that I had the asparagus soup which was tasty and creamy. For the main meal I had rice with a bit of Indian curry with potato wedges, and also a Japanese sushi - rice wrapped in bean curd skin. Desserts were a plentiful. I had cakes, kueh-mueh, and pengat pisang - a sweet soup with bananas. Finally there were so many flavours of ice-cream with a few types of toppings to choose from too. Still there is also the ice-kacang which I could not space for it anymore...............
We seldom have to make trips to downtown Kuala Lumpur unless really necessary due to the chaotic jams there. However, this time round we heard that there is a really worthwhile "Tea Break in town" so braving the jams we still made our way there to firstly, whet our appetite and secondly to also catch up with the going ons in the city lest we will be really left behind as to not to know what is the latest happening there. We were glad we made the trip as we were happy to be able to experience the tasty food at such cheap prices - all food are priced at RM 3.60++. The Feast Village in Starhill Galery is really amazing with their very modern decor and comfortable and cozy ambiance. As it was a Saturday, there was even live music with a singer performing too. Do take the family for an enjoyable outing.
